Description

This Sweet and Sour Apple Recipe is a delightful balance of tangy and sweet flavors, perfect as a side dish, dessert, or topping for meats and salads. Fresh apples are caramelized with a touch of honey and vinegar, creating a deliciously unique dish with a hint of cinnamon and ginger. Serve it warm or chilled for a refreshing twist on classic apple flavors!

Ingredients

• 3 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), peeled and sliced

• 1 tablespoon butter or coconut oil

• 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

• 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

• ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

• ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

• Pinch of salt

• ¼ cup water or orange juice

• 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

1. Heat butter or coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.

2. Add apple slices and sauté for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.

3. Stir in honey (or maple syrup), apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.

4. Pour in water or orange juice and simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender.

5. If a thicker sauce is desired, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water, then stir it into the apples and cook for 1 more minute until thickened.

6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

• Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a stronger sour contrast.

• Great as a topping for grilled chicken, pork chops, pancakes, or yogurt.

• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
