A classic comfort food dish featuring juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich onion gravy. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, this meal pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes or rice.
Ingredients
For the Hamburger Steaks:
•1 lb ground beef (80/20)
•1/4 cup breadcrumbs
•1 egg
•1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
•1 tsp garlic powder
•1 tsp onion powder
•1/2 tsp salt
•1/2 tsp black pepper
•1 tbsp olive oil
For the Onion Gravy:
•1 tbsp butter
•1 large onion, sliced
•2 tbsp all-purpose flour
•2 cups beef broth
•1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
•1/2 tsp salt
•1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
1.Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Form into 4 patties.
2.Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
3.In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onions until golden and soft, about 5 minutes.
4.Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
5.Gradually add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
6.Return hamburger steaks to the skillet and coat with gravy. Simmer for 5 minutes.
7.Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and enjoy!
