Ingredients
•For the filling:
•6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
•1/3 cup granulated sugar
•1/3 cup brown sugar
•1 teaspoon cinnamon
•1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•1 tablespoon lemon juice
•2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
•For the topping:
•1 cup all-purpose flour
•1/3 cup granulated sugar
•1 teaspoon baking powder
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
•1/2 cup milk
Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2.In a bowl, toss apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and flour.
3.Spread apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
4.In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles crumbs. Stir in the milk to form a dough.
5.Drop spoonfuls of dough over the apples.
6.Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling.
7.Cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Use firm apples like Granny Smith for the best texture. For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the topping.
